Moments of time build up within my life through layers.

I have a bit more life experience now, age and time have started to have a profound effect on my outlook on life.

I see decisions in points of time throughout my life that have led me to where I am now.

Patterns in my own behaviour that I gave little, or no, thought to in my 20s have had huge impacts on my life now.

This artwork is my first drop on Transient Labs.

These are Substack poems brought onchain to Ethereum.

I will be releasing seasonal episodes to honour these moments.

They are slices of time.

I’ll be sharing deeper thoughts through notes about this episode.

And the meaning behind the poetry and artwork, over the month.

Sorting through my reflections on this work now I’ve had a bit of time to sit with it.

From when I first shared them here on Substack.

Magnets Spin...

She had to stop waiting.

Because her thoughts had frozen.

In a different time.

Textures of the artwork b r e a k the smooth red sky. Cross-hatched pixels move around orbiting a single point; the sun. Why were there green rays? And why is the sun blue?

My brain starts to fizz and then spark from looking at the artwork for too long.

Cracks appeared along the blue sky. And it fell away, like paper. Small red beams that looked like stars sang out and pulled her towards them. They beckoned to her to stay put, for her work. Was not done.

I tend to write these free verse poems very quickly. I could probably write and make art forever and be perfectly happy.

But it helps to take some time to reflect on these words.

As they don’t always make any sense to me when I write them.

I see the poems first as an image, or a moment. (I am a visual thinker).

Then I have to try and write what is happening.

For this poem, I saw lots of tiny bubbles in my brain. They were pleasant.

At the time, I was battling some unpleasant thoughts and feelings that come into my mind sometimes.

These are not new. And I’ve tried to focus on improving my mental health over the past decade or so.

To try and live each day as stable as possible. (It’s not always possible.)

In this poem I felt a major shift.

It was like this new bubble feeling (?!) was creating a protective layer that I didn’t have before.

I have to honour what these poems are, even if they make no sense to me at the time.

• I find that later down the line, somehow they start to make sense.

If you’ve ever experienced low times or mental health issues, I find it hard to voice what these feelings are like with words.

But can explain them with images and then try to describe these.

The moment in this poem was when the blocks and (I think) self-torment I had felt in my mind for so long slowly eased.

Each period when this happens lasts for longer now.

There was a harsh brightness in my head, like people were shouting at me or something.

And these colours lessened, is what I was trying to share in this poem.
