Introducing a new section of SEH Substack, a place for experimental works and friends.
These posts will have a focus on sound and technology.
I am always searching for a way to use sound in my work, and haven’t quite figured that out yet.
I often collaborate with sound artists and musicians. But feel I need a better framework for the sound I use.
I am inspired by projects I have discovered on Substack.
And continually discover amazing creators here.
It is no small feat to pursue your creative projects and artistry, and this will be a place to highlight these discoveries.
And create new artworks at the same time.
Plus I’m trying something a bit different…
The art I share here will be under a Creative Commons license available to use and remix for your projects. Including commercial projects.
We are in a strange period of time with increasing unchecked AI. That uses content without permission, and the proper redistribution and credit.
Creative Commons is introducing CC Signals licenses that try to counteract this, without compromising on open sharing.
Where knowledge and creativity can remain shared and attributed properly.
I will be using their licenses and see if we can move towards a place where AI and creativity can work, within a regulated framework.
If you feature SEH artworks, please let me know.
It would be great to see how the artworks are being shared.
And to discover your projects.
This license enables reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to the creator. The license allows for commercial use. If you remix, adapt, or build upon the material, you must license the modified material under the same or a compatible license.
CC BY-SA includes the following elements:
BY
Credit must be given to you, the creator.
SA
Adaptations must be shared under the same terms.
CC signals offers a flexible, values-driven framework for communicating expectations around AI use of content or data. Just as our licenses offer choices between all and no rights reserved, our hope is that CC signals will offer creators a spectrum of preferences for when their work is used in AI. True openness means participation with fairness and respect, not unchecked extraction.
