Hi there!
And like that it was March. And I feel like we are officially in the Easter season, which means for some of us - Spring is in the air, and for the rest of us - it’s getting suspiciously nipply.
March also kicks off a massive Google Core Update - so everyone with a blog or website is sitting on the edge of their seats to see what this does to our traffic and rankings. And at this point, there is nothing left to do but ride the wave that is Google.
That being said, I’ve spent a fair amount of time listening to podcasts and reading posts on how best to utilize Pinterest. Tweaking my strategy I began implementing in Jan and working on a bunch of backend aspects of my website. Such as adding in additional categories and playing around with the home page and recipe index a bit. And well, trying to get through my fairly long to-do list.
And to keep in that Easter spirit - I can definitely recommend my mini eggs cookies. Which are basically chocolate chip cookies but made with crushed mini eggs.
But my Hot Cross bun recipe also got an update this week…and I think it’s better than ever! And I think I need to test out a chocolate version this weekend! And if it works out then I will aim at getting it out next week.
I also put a bit of time and effort into writing up a super detailed biscuit base post. Just going into some serious detail on how to get that perfect biscuit base for all your cheesecakes, pies, and tarts.
Clean as you go can be easier said than done...and it helps that I live in a house with someone who is always helping me out.
I find that this is even more important as we live with what I call a "micro kitchen" with very limited counter space. In the past, when I had what seemed like miles of counter space, it was very easy to spread out and then have a really large mess to clean in the end.
And I know sticking to routines and tidying up is not easy for everyone. So what I like to do, especially if I've prepped everything into bowls/plates, is toss those directly into the dishwasher as soon as I'm done with them. If I'm filming a video, then I stack the bowls and cups and everything into each other and move them to the dishwasher or sink as soon as possible.
As soon as my stuff is in the oven, or bubbling away on the stove top, then I wipe down the kitchen counters. If I still have stuff lying about - get them to where they need to be.
Think of it as a 10-minute (600 seconds) tidy while the final cookies are baking. Just remember to set a time for the cookies so you don't get distracted with cleaning and come back to burnt cookies!
