Good morning and welcome to our Sunday meeting :)
The last couple of weeks have been, busy! I can’t believe how fast the Summer is going - I have questions! Where is the time actually going? I feel like we will blink and it’ll be September. NO ONE so much as mention pumpkins spice anything yet - I am no where near ready.
That view though…. also - EXCELLENT BOOK
And start with a little slice of Cornwall
We found (that’s the royal we - Gav found it) a brill little campsite down on the Lands End peninsula near Sennen Cove. We escaped for two nights in the camper van, a quick trip over a weekend just because. My expectations with camp sites are never that high, it is what is is and if I set the bar low, anything above that bar is a bonus!

Things to note - Super clean loos - excellent showers - 3 hairdryers, good ones. Laundry area, shared freezer, lots of little extras. A cafe and a little shop selling supplies such as fresh bread and pastries, frozen ready meals, wine, beer and spare camping bits etc. So far so good!
It’s really clean and pretty in the most spectacular setting - the final pic is our pitch just as we left - that view!
It’s close to a footpath that winds through the farm on to a coastal path that leads down to a beach (boulders rather than sand at the time we saw it, but there was a family snorkelling and jumping in) more suited to older kids probably as it was quite a steep walk down. However - it was STUNNING
Not a bad spot for sunset. To be fair there were many good spots for sunset. One the cool things about the van is that when we go out for the day, it comes too. Meaning wherever we pitch up we can make a brew and if necessary, a bacon buttie can be rustled up in any car park. And when there’s a promise of a good sunset we can reverse in to the space and fling the doors open. HEAVEN!!!
Of course having the van also comes with its own problems. We fancied a drive and mooch round Mousehole (I will always wish it was pronounced as such, but Mowzall it is, such is life) and we kind of overlooked that, once again, the roads were not built for anything bigger than a Fiat 500. NGL almost got wedged in between a very pretty AirBnb and a double decker bus. The bus won and we gave up and we took our massive van and squeaky bums, to Newlyn instead, which was far less stressful. (Also - the bus drivers here need some kind of medal for bravery. Some sort of Harry Potter wizardry goig on)
Highly recommend Newlyn as it goes. Plenty of parking indicated by a bin lorry parked up, so we took it as a sign and drove in, with elbow room and abandon.
Speaking of signs - we must protect this woman at all costs…
Is this, or is this not, the most excellent sign you have ever seen? It’s up there with ‘massive shoe sale’ (which made me laugh because I don’t have massive feet) only this is next level. FIND STEVIE HERE if she feels like it obvs
Potteries, galleries, vintage emporium. Check.
Of course I totally overlooked taking pics of anything very useful - but a shop selling vintage gear was worth snapping and that suitcase was gorgeous at £25 (Did not buy. Regret)
If you are here and find yourself in need of a snack - you must visit DUKE STREET CAFE - excellent menu, lovely food, friendly staff and really good service. We had home made scones with jam and cream, in that order HA. The sandwiches looked AMAZING - we sat outside and made friends with a lovely man who turned out to be a working 82 year old fisherman who popped in for lunch with his daughter. They highly recommend the smashed avo, and the prawn sarnie. Took zero photos. Apologies.
One of the things that a nosy person like me loves about camping is the overheard snippets of other people’s lives. This weekend did not disappoint
A man wandering by chatting to his friend saying ‘ I wasn’t missing, I was in prison’ gutted they went out of earshot and the rest of the story will remain guesswork
A kid on the swings, with heaps of other kids saying very loudly to all of them as he swung high ‘Don’t call me a little kid because I am not one and if you do it again I’ll get my Mum to find your tent and have a word with your Mum’
Another kid very excited to announce he had a pet crab. Just announcing to anyone really, then he caught our eye and asked if we had any pet crab food on us. We took a couple of mussels off the rocks and he wandered off very happy, reassuring us that it was only a pet for ‘an hour or so’ and the mussels, same.
And finally, I was awoken very early by a sound. It was dawn and I could hear a regular kind of low pitched whistling. Immediately grabbed my phone in my sleepiness because we have downloaded the Merlin app - a brill app that tells you what birds are singing nearby, it listens and lists them, it’s really cool. I found out about it from my nail technician who found out about it from one of her clients who is a nature expert and uses it all the time. I saw it on Clarkson’s Farm too, and promptly forgot all about it until we were wondering what birds were singing in the hedgerows while we were on a walk FIND IT HERE
Anyway
it couldn’t seem to find the whistle I could hear just outside. TURNED OUT the man next door had a very loud nose whistle and I was dying to wake Gav up and tell him, stifling chuckles I managed to go back to sleep. A nose whistle LOLLLL A blummin loud nose whistle. HAAA
While I am in anorak mode - another ace app I discovered is the Rock Identifier app using AI. Steady now.
How many times have you walked over a stony beach and wondered what you are walking on? Maybe you haven’t but this app is really cool and I can only apologise if you too become obsessed. I am now, expert at identifying rocks (at least 4 types) I can’t do too many bc I am on the free version and it limits how many a day you can identify. But I am expert on those 4. Pretty much a professional geologist tbh.
And one last app recommendation - If you are out and about and take a photo but REALLY wish the sky was playing ball, I found an app that can change it in a flash. These are the free versions but there are heaps of others if you upgrade to paid. The Santa one is pretty cool placed over a pic of your house.
Take a grey day and transform it. Take a sunny day and add rain. If you upgrade you can also remove objects and people from your shot. There are other apps that do this but I like this one. Cool hey. FIND IT HERE
RIGHT. Next on todays program - I wanted to chat about foundation. I have been (and continue to be) a fan of Erborian. It’s like wearing a filter and I have used it for a couple of years - but I am bored, (Erboredian )and fancy a change. As usual I have been stalked, STALKED I tell you, on FaceCloth by a brand called Smooch (or something) who (rolls eyes at self) had a sale on (and an excellent campaign it must be said) anyway, blah blah, I fell for it and bought one. Reader, do not bother, it is not a patch on Erborian and I wish I’d not bothered.
However, I am still in the market for something different and I have been alerted (not by a FaceCloth algorithm thank god, by an actual human) that DCYPHER is worth my attention. Thus will share.
Apparently it uses AI to create a perfectly matched-to-your-skin tone, foundation. If in doubt get the robots to help - keep them busy on stuff like this I say (only half joking)

They sound pretty confident. I shall report back - in the meantime HERE IS THE LINK - they do loads of other products - I fancy a concealer too as I have just bought one in Boots and it’s completely the wrong colour. GAHH give me allllll the robots! This is an excellent use of them. IMO.
And finally - a mention for THOSE TROUSERS. The best bargain in ages

I am a 12. I tried loads of pairs on in store because who really knows what a 27 fits like? Apparently size 27 is an 8 - so I am not surprised these ended up at such a massive discount (£19 from £98) When sizing is this unreliable no one feels like ordering! So I bought 27 regular, but you can bet your bottom dollar that if I had seen 27 +Petite in store I would have snapped them up. I’m 5ft 3
They are SUPER stretchy and I would have been ok in 26, 27 or 28. There are a few sizes left and these will take you through to winter. Imagine black suede heels and a black cashmere jumper. FIND THEM HERE £19 squid. BARG
One last thing… this time of year I treat myself to a 3 wick candle from The White Company - always in the sale - and I absolutely relish it. In this world, I think you are either a candle person, or you aren’t. I LOVE a candle of an evening. I style up a large wooden tray on our coffee table/foot stool and it brings the noggin a lot of calm. I am very much looking forward to a new one arriving. Took a punt on the scent. Twas a toss up between Cassis and Coast. Coast won. I am rolling my eyes at myself for being predictable and seas side-ish, but equally I like the sound of it - seasalt and fig. We will see. Unpopular opinion alert, the only fragrance I cannot STAND from TWC is ‘Seychelles’ I know it’s really popular but it’s a hard no from me because I find it so sweet. I think it’s the vanilla I have an inexplicable aversion to. Sad times.
