Primaries Decide the Country. Not the General Election.

You keep hearing the House will flip Blue in 2026.

But here’s the real question: “What kind of Blue will it be?”

Corporate-friendly? Or people-powered?

That choice won’t be made by party leaders or cable news panels in November. It will be made by primary voters — and by the movements we build right now.

Between now and August, voters will decide which Democrats even make it onto the November ballot. These are called primaries, and barely anybody votes in them. In my district’s last Democratic primary, only 22,000 people voted. In November, more than 200,000 did. That means a tiny fraction of voters decides what kind of Democrat everyone else gets to choose from.

Primaries are where the real decisions are made.
The general election just ratifies them.

We have an opportunity this year to drive primary voter turnout to levels never before seen, as if the future of the country depended on it - because it does. We are living through the consequences of timid politics. For years, voters were offered small fixes while costs exploded, inequality deepened, and trust in government collapsed. That vacuum is what allowed authoritarianism to rise.

The House elected this year won’t be sent to Washington for patchwork legislation. It will be sent at a hinge moment in history — one that demands bold action.

If you want to see a candidate who speaks to your values make it to the general, then you must support them starting now. If you’re reading this, you likely care about solving the root of the issue, not policies that attack symptoms. Candidates running on taxing billionaires, Medicare for All, and campaign finance reform aren’t being elevated by party infrastructure. We rarely receive major endorsements because those policies threaten the donor class that finances politics as usual.

This is the moment most people miss.

We don’t lose the country in November.

We lose it months earlier — when only a handful of voters decide who even makes the ballot.

It’s not enough for me to win the general election - I need your local “Salaam” to win as well. Because one or two bold members of Congress can raise issues. A bloc can pass laws. When candidates like us win across the country, we won’t just influence the agenda — we’ll have the numbers to set it.

Then, we can have the bloc we need to move root-busting policies forward. So let me do something the party establishment won’t: help you find the candidate in your district who’s actually fighting for you. Here’s how to turn that frustration into action.

How to find your primary date and Congressional candidate who is fighting for the people:

   2. In case you don’t find them on the page above, here’s a manual method:

      1. Enter your zip code here: Find my rep

      2. Your search result will contain your current representative’s name and the district number. Take that district number and go here: Ballotpedia.

      3. Scroll down a little bit. You’ll see “state 1 of 55 Alabama” and a dropdown arrow. Click the arrow, find your state, and scroll until you find the district number from above.

      4. Voila! You should see a whole list of candidates running in your Congressional district’s primary. Check them all out and see who lines up with what you want.

Once you’ve found them, get involved - we need all the help! Volunteer, host meet and greets, donate any amount of money, and share your talents.
