From the Saie Office · From the Saie Office

We’re about halfway through summer, and we’re not the people to start thinking about fall… yet. There are still plenty of days left for slip dresses, coastal grandmother-ing, and outfits that require approximately zero effort. And, if you ask us, glowy skin is always in.

That said, we started to enter a mid-summer style slump: the point where we’ve worn our favorite looks three times. Okay, maybe even five—and we were ready for a little fresh inspiration.

When we began discussing this in our group chat—the movie characters, celebrities, and iconic images that live rent-free in our minds whenever we ask ourselves the eternal question, “What should I wear today?”—we suddenly had a very long list of inspiration (as you’ll see below).

There’s a strong case for ’90s minimalism, some unforgettable movie characters (this is your sign to watch—or rewatch—Before Sunrise and Dazed and Confused), and the people who somehow manage to make a simple tank top look couture.

Dazed and Confused

We can confirm every single one of these looks pairs perfectly with our Saie x Karen Wazen Sunglasses and our newest launch, Beachglow (for a summer day-glow), arriving on August 4th.

So mark your calendar—then scroll, screenshot liberally, borrow what you’d like, and make it all your own.

“Calvin Klein ads from the 90’s were very influential for me. Minimalist and simple, but never boring.” —Laney

“Two ends of the spectrum for me: Jennifer Aniston in the ‘90s, and Diane Keaton in Something’s Gotta Give—minus the turtlenecks. Both are effortless and comfortable, all elevated basics in white and neutrals, finished with one accessory: sunglasses or a hat.” —Colleen

“For me it’s Natasha Naginsky. Forever searching for these looks. And Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green. The second it gets warm, I go straight to these images.” — Lauren S.

Another one from Chloe: “Laura Harrier never misses.”

“The Owens Sisters! I love a simple strappy top in the summer with a low-waisted skirt. And the Hunter boots-and-denim combo, as she runs down the street to Faith Hill’s ‘This Kiss,’ gives me butterflies every time.” —Serene

“Mine will forever be McDreamy—aka Patrick Dempsey—and Matthew McConaughey. Both are effortlessly cool and so simple. And their hair? Just Mwah.” —Patrick

“Kate Hudson as Miss Penny Lane in Almost Famous. The hair, the coat, all of it. It feels effortless, fun, and romantic—lived in rather than styled. I’ve officially declared this my summer of boho.” —Misha

“You can feel the heat and the youth in these photos of Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor in Marfa filming Giant. I have them framed in my house! It’s the type of pose you can only strike surrounded by people you love.” —Shain

Another from Shain: “John Wayne in Acapulco.”

And one last gem courtesy of Hannah:

Although this is not my personal style per se, Nicole Kidman post-divorce is the energy and embodiment of what I want to feel every single second of the summer,” Hannah says. “The happiness and freedom and elation!”

On that note, happy summer.

Tell us your style icons in the comments—we can never have too much inspiration.

Until next time,
