Magdalen Reading, by a follower of Piero di Cosimo

It’s been a year since I started this project — which began with my idea of sharing reading as a sacred practice via online meetings. It expanded into a podcast, a seasonal study series, and a Substack newsletter. Participation in online meetings has tapered off significantly, though, and I have decided to bring the project to a close for the time being.

I’ve been grateful for all the chances I’ve had to meet with you, including this past week, and for those who’ve commented and shared experiences throughout the year. Even if I haven’t met or heard from you, I hope you have found something of use to you here to carry on your journey.

If you have any questions, or want to share any resources or your own experiences, please feel free to send me a message.

Here’s one of the texts we worked with this week, for your personal enjoyment and reflection:

How
did the rose
ever open its heart
and give to the world
all its
beauty?

It felt the encouragement of light
against its
Being.

Otherwise,
we all remain
too
frightened

— Hafiz
