Why I’m voting Blue this November

America stands at a crossroads, with power being pursued through deception, intimidation, and the deliberate degradation of democratic institutions. One political party has surrendered to a dangerous man.

The Republican Party has entirely capitulated to a man who regards truth as an adversary, accountability as harassment, and considers democracy legitimate only when he emerges victorious.

Trump can sense performative masculinity as instinctively as a shark detects blood. He has the musings of an imbecile whose levels of incompetance is staggering. He and many in his cabinet have constructed a theatrical display of fascist masculinity, where every insecurity is masked by uniformity, and each act of cruelty is reinterpreted as a sign of strength.

Many Americans are drawn to the daily spectacle of lies and deception, praising it as effective leadership. They support a man whose actions are steadily undermining our democracy, leading them to hunger and stripping away constitutional rights. They cheer for someone who plans to build a ballroom and arch at the taxpayers’ expense, even as they face losing their homes and struggle to feed their families. Economic pain is like a flesh wound for those who buy into the lies and deceit.

The Democratic Party has flaws. Similar to Republicans, many Democrats receive funding from corporations and special interests. They also seem concerned about Democratic Socialists, who show that politicians working for the people can challenge the establishment. Socrates said, “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.

True political change requires power driven by justice and love, not merely anger. Voting and active resistance are vital tools for moving society forward. Progress depends on people who refuse to accept broken systems and push for a better future. Ultimately, we vote for our interests, the interests of our communities, and a desire for our country to thrive.

John McCain, a former senator and presidential candidate, said, “We must rise to the occasion, as we always have; change what must be changed, and make the future better than the past.”

This is what the November midterm elections are about - rising to the occasion, changing what must be changed to build a better future. This is why I am voting blue and urging others to do the same.
