Some trips are about getting away.
The best ones are about finding the right place to breathe, laugh, eat well, walk slowly, and remember why you needed the trip in the first place.
A new Southern Living list named eight North Carolina destinations perfect for a girls’ trip, and three of the strongest picks are right here in Western North Carolina:
Hendersonville.
Asheville.
Highlands.
That tells you something.
The mountains are not just for hiking boots and scenic drives anymore. They are for spa weekends, boutique hotels, long dinners, flower-filled walks, mountain-view pools, glamping cabins, galleries, shopping, waterfalls, wine, and a little time away from the noise.
In Hendersonville, Southern Living recommended booking a cottage or estate home at The Horse Shoe Farm, an 85-acre retreat with a mountain-view saltwater pool, sauna, steam room, walking trails, biking paths, pickleball, and wellness events like breathwork and cold plunge workshops.
That sounds like Hendersonville at its best.
Quiet, beautiful, relaxed, and close enough to Asheville without feeling swallowed by it.
Then there is Asheville.
Southern Living called a visit here one of the best ways to show the area love after Tropical Storm Helene, and I agree with that completely. Come here. Stay here. Eat here. Shop here. Walk here. Support the businesses that keep this city alive.
The article mentioned stays at The Flat Iron Hotel or The Restoration Asheville, glamping at Wrong Way River Lodge & Cabins, drinks or dinner at Golden Hour inside The Radical Hotel, and a visit to Biltmore Estate for the history, gardens, and seasonal blooms.
That is a pretty good Asheville weekend.
And then there is Highlands, called one of North Carolina’s chicest mountain towns.
Stay at Old Edwards Inn & Spa, Highlander Mountain House, or Outpost Inn. Walk Main Street. Browse galleries and boutiques. Chase waterfalls. Go hiking. Fly fish. Grab picnic essentials at Mountain Fresh Grocery.
That is the kind of mountain trip people remember.
The full list also included places like Ocracoke, Beaufort, Lake Norman, Emerald Isle, and Chapel Hill, all with their own kind of North Carolina appeal.
But the Western North Carolina picks stand out.
Hendersonville gives you the farm retreat.
Asheville gives you the creative city in the mountains.
Highlands gives you polished mountain charm.
Three different trips.
Three different moods.
All in the Blue Ridge.
As always, if you are looking to buy or sell in the Asheville area, I am always available to talk. Take a look at todays inventory.
