“LEARN from ME and the Easiness of His Yoke:

Jesus tells us about His Heart and a New Way to Live”

I. There is nothing like being weary to receive the kindness of the Lord. (v.28, 2 Peter 3, James 2:17, 2 Cor 10:5)

II. The call is to a new lifestyle (v.29)

• · Greater works (John 14:12-18)

• · Grow in Grace and Knowledge (Hosea 4:6, 2 Peter 3:18, Proverbs 16:32, 2 Timothy 2)

• · Rooted in truth, not lies (John 14:6, Colossians 2:6-7)

• · You have been Enlisted not oppressed (Romans 12:3, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, Philippians 4:8-9)

III. The “easy” yoke means that it is well-fitting and comes with a light burden. (v.30)

• · Christ’s yoke sets us free from the stress we bear on our own – worry has no basis, fear need no rule (Matthew 6:25-34)

• · Compared to eternity, all afflictions are light and momentary. We are encouraged to change our perspective. (2 Corinthians 4:7-9,16-18)

We don’t change hearts through the affections,

we get to the heart through the mind.

“Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.

⁸ “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. ⁹ “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. ¹⁰ “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, ¹¹ So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
