For a long time, I felt real shame about wanting to stay in bed and watch Real Housewives instead of showing up to my life.
I tried to muscle that part into line for years. Called her lazy, avoidant, weak. It never worked. She just went further underground and came back louder.
So I got curious instead. Now when I go into mama bear mode, aggressive and defensive because someone I love feels threatened, I call that part of myself Teresa Giudice. She is one of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, flipping the table because she’s trying so hard to protect the people she loves. I’ve got a whole cast by now.
Sounds silly. And it kind of is. But I think that’s the point.
Jung said, “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” What I’ve learned over the years is that you don’t always have to meet the unconscious with heaviness. Sometimes the fastest way through a pattern is to name it, get curious, and laugh hard at how human it is. And that laughter isn’t avoidance. It’s alchemy.
But first, you have to actually want to look. That’s where it all turns.
I’m hosting a live online gathering on exactly this: meeting some of these patterns and finding new ways to look at them through an entirely different lens- as parts that are trying to protect you. Greeting them with compassion instead of shame, and learning how to alchemize what you find.

We’ll use body-based, trauma-informed practices to bring what’s unconscious into the light, and to start relating to the parts of you that you’ve been at war with. Not to fix you. There was never anything to fix.
