Ruby Martin · Finally Some Good Food

hello my beloved chouquettes, it’s time for a very quick little newsletter to announce something very exciting:

I’m launching a new writing course!

That’s right, On the Write Track is a four week course running at Withington Public Hall in Manchester every Tuesday from the 8th until the of September. This course uses a mixture of writing exercises and discussions to help each writer develop a new project as well as build their writing practice. So, whether you’re a complete beginner or just stuck when it comes to your next project, there’s something to gain from On The Write Track!

Each week will focus on a different topic, and while tickets are for the entire course, depending on availability we may have tickets for individual workshops. The timetable is as follows:

Tuesday 8th September: Where to Begin? Ideas and Characters

Tuesday 15th September: Finding the Plot: Narrative and Dialogue

Tuesday 22th September: Reading the Room: Genre and Tone

Tuesday 29th September: Writing into Reality: The Next Steps

If you miss one of the workshops, please know I will send you any exercises we do so you can complete at home in your own time.

Here’s some feedback from some of my previous workshops:

“This was my first writing workshop, so it was really interesting to try exercises and get a good idea of what to do to start writing. Ruby was well prepped and the exercises were really fun and I thought it was great value for money and would deffo recommend/come again”

“Really enjoyed it, barely stopped writing which is exactly what I came for. Will definitely attend more workshops in future.”

“Thank you, thoroughly enjoyed and definitely felt the spark of inspiration I was hoping for! …I learnt a lot more about my voice as a writer than I thought I would so thanks again ha ha!”

If you are not based in Manchester but would love some creative support with whatever literary project you’re working on, like a book, script or even newsletter, I can still help you.

If you are looking for one-to-one support, I offer individual coaching on whatever you’re working on, whether that’s a book, script, DYCP application, etc, and it can be done through video call if you’re further afield. If you’re interested, send me an email at rubyswriteclub@gmail.com

Also, if you know of any local venues, whether that’s a book shop, cafe, restaurant (or perhaps you run one) looking for workshops or events, do let me know - I can travel and I run one-off events, including workshops, facilitating discussions, tastings, etc, which can be made bespoke to each venue.

That’s all for now, but please feel free to get in touch wherever you are, otherwise I hope to see some of you very soon!
