During the Annual Session of the UNICEF Executive Board 2026, the Republic of Moldova appreciated the partnership and constant support provided by UNICEF in the process of strengthening the child protection system in the country

On June 16, 2026, during the Annual Session of the UNICEF Executive Board, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the UN, Gheorghe Leuca, reiterated our country’s appreciation for UNICEF’s activity and for the results presented in the Annual Report of the UNICEF Executive Director for 2025.

In his statement, the ambassador highlighted the role of UNICEF as a strategic partner of the Republic of Moldova in strengthening the child protection system and in promoting the rights of children and vulnerable families.

The Moldovan official stressed the importance of cooperation with UNICEF in implementing key initiatives, such as the development of the National Action Plan for the European Child Guarantee, the expansion of foster care services, the development of the Barnahus Center and the support of the social service “Support for Families with Children.”

At the same time, the Republic of Moldova expressed its interest in continuing to collaborate with UNICEF in priority areas, including the development of services for children in conflict with the law, the expansion of family-based care alternatives, and the promotion of children’s participation in decision-making processes.

In conclusion, Ambassador Gheorghe Leuca thanked UNICEF for its constant support to the Republic of Moldova and reaffirmed the commitment of the authorities to continue cooperation to ensure the protection, inclusion, and well-being of every child.
