In the context of the national delegation's participation in the 19th session of the Conference of States Parties to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, held from 9 to 11 June 2026, in New York, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the UN, Gheorghe Leuca, delivered an intervention during the general debate of the meeting, highlighting the progress made by the Republic of Moldova in promoting inclusion and protecting the rights of persons with disabilities.

In his intervention, the official emphasized the strengthening of the national legislative framework, the expansion of community services that support independent living and the measures adopted to protect women and girls with disabilities against violence, including in the online environment.

The diplomat also highlighted the efforts to increase the participation of people with disabilities in public and political life, as well as the completion of the National Program for the Social Inclusion of People with Disabilities 2026 - 2030, which will guide future actions in the field.

In conclusion, Ambassador Gheorghe Leuca reaffirmed the commitment of the Republic of Moldova to continue promoting the rights of people with disabilities and to build an inclusive society, in which no one is left behind.
