Weight loss sounds simple on paper

-Eat less energy than you use.

-Repeat it consistently.

-Eventually, your body weight will decrease.

Even though biology is straightforward, the human experience is not.

You are not making food decisions in a vacuum

Food is everywhere.

*Restaurants advertise constantly.

*Snacks are available at work.

*Family members may bring treats home.

*Social events often revolve around eating.

*Convenience foods are available instantly.

Your environment can influence your choices before you consciously make them.

Our brain is designed to notice food because we evolved in environments where obtaining food wasn’t easy. Therefore, attractive, energy-rich foods grab our attention.

*The smell of freshly cooked food can trigger appetite even when you weren’t particularly hungry.

*Seeing someone else eat can make you suddenly think about eating too.

*Highly rewarding foods can be difficult to eat moderately.

*Foods combining sweetness, saltiness, fat, and appealing textures can be especially enjoyable. They’re easy to eat quickly and easy to consume while distracted.

That combination can make portion control harder than simply knowing how many calories something contains.
