1128 - 1373 CE
This cycle begins with a secret order of knights being blessed by the Catholic Church. During Power, famous conquerors expand empire including Genghis Khan and Saladin, while Crusades fail to take back Jerusalem but succeed in destroying the Cathars in Southern France. During Justice, Thomas Aquinas, Robert Grosseteste, Roger Bacon, Rumi, and others inspire deeper inquiry into what is real and true. During Reform, after 100 years of crusades, the last crusaders return to Europe defeated and done. Knights are dispersed to form new societies in what is today Switzerland, Portugal, and Scotland.
