Zanzibar diaries II

Friday 7th August

I’m leaving Zanzibar today and heading to Ethiopia, which I’m slightly daunted by. War broke out in Tigray last week and I’m meant to be flying into the city where the Tigray People’s Liberation Front are headquarted on Tuesday and I’m starting to think this may not be such a great idea. It also hadn’t occurred to me that I should get some vaccinations (I’m not necessarily opposed, I just don’t like needles so I’ve been avoiding getting all the childhood ones I missed and failed to consider that I might be going to a country where there’s polio circulating; I also don’t have a plug adapter.) I have my malaria prophylaxis pills at least, which I haven’t had any side effects from, though I am currently quite sick and googling typhoid fever symptoms with mild anxiety. I had been warned off the iced drinks here and I guess they finally got me.
