This Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m., we’ll be back in Sierra Madre for their Art Walk, painting in front of the historic Sierra Madre Playhouse, a building that has stood through nearly a century of local history.
Sierra Madre has always felt a little different from the rest of LA. Maybe it’s the scale. The mountains. Maybe it’s the fact that people talk to other people. Maybe it’s the feeling that the town has managed to hold onto its spirit while so much around it continues to change. That spirit is part of what makes it such a pleasure to spend time there.
This will be our third time.
We’ll be setting up our easels outside the playhouse and bringing a selection of paintings completed this year. The exhibition that recently included our work at Creative Arts Group has also found a temporary home inside the Playhouse, so the evening will feel a little like continuing a conversation that began a few weeks ago.
And there will be plenty happening around us. Directly across the street, the world-famous Ukulele Orchestra will be performing.
