Somehow we currently stand in June 2026 despite the fact that 1995 was just a few days ago. This obviously is not true, but talk to any adult about their perceived velocity of time passage and I would guess that they would say time feels like it passes more quickly than when they were younger. There is some science to support this idea. If you feel like years are passing like days and months like minutes, you are not alone.
This idea of time’s increase in velocity is the basis for the lyrics of RomHeadTech’s newest song, “Losing Time”. This is the first RomHeadTech release to feature vocals, which were supplied by the fantastic Iona Kassel and Everday Solaris (Start the Tape). In response to the sync brief that triggered the song, it is heavily inspired by a synthpop classic.
Time is fleeting and no matter how hard we may try to accumulate things, no matter how much time we spend keeping up with our treasures, they are ultimately just as temporary as we are.
The words were a collaboration between Iona and myself. Additional production was provided by Johan Schreiber. Mixing and mastering were handled by the Mix Master himself, Travis Leeman. Artwork by Everday Solaris.
Lyrics:
Write in pencil, write in pen
Lists in books with heavy locks
Just like all other mortal men
Can't you hear the ticking clocks?
Consumed by your depravity
Taking things too casually
Truth pursued for years
Your treasures disappear
Catalogued and filed away
Endless lists are meaningless
The hours quickly fade to days
But ignorance can’t bring you bliss
Gold and silver vanishing
You’ll never get it back again
Your words fall on deaf ears
Your treasures disappear
Never fall for your own lines, you’re losing time
Words are running out of rhyme, you're losing time
While we stayed preoccupied
You crawl back to your shell
But it's too late to run and hide
Time would never suffer well
The conscience will try to conceal
But wounds will always be revealed
Whispers in your ears
Your treasures disappear
Never fall for your own lines, you’re losing time
Words are running out of rhyme, you're losing time
