I was having breakfast with a psychiatrist the other day, who spoke of the terrible damage many in his profession have done to kids by transing them. “Dr. Mengele would have had a field day in American medicine,” he said.

Vice President JD Vance is taking on two administration priorities in one go: cracking down on health care fraud and restricting transgender care.
Vance sent the Justice Department a report issued Thursday by the Department of Health and Human Services accusing hospitals of incorrectly billing insurers for transgender health care procedures — such as prescribing puberty blockers or hormone therapy to minors — in order to make a profit.
“Some pediatric gender clinics and children’s hospitals have apparently used misleading or even fraudulent diagnostic and billing codes to ensure that insurance companies will cover the procedures,” Vance, the head of the White House’s Anti-Fraud Task Force, wrote in a letter Thursday asking Attorney General Todd Blanche to launch an investigation into dozens of hospitals nationwide.
The report, “Wolves in White Coats: How Doctors and Hospitals Pushed and Profited from the Fraud of ‘Gender Medicine,’” comes two days after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services cut off Medicaid funding to hospitals that offer gender-affirming care for minors.
And here is a link to the full report, “Wolves In White Coats.” Excerpt from the introduction:
First, as will be explained in detail in subsequent chapters, healthcare providers were able to turn a tidy profit from these procedures: children who “transitioned” were placed on a course that would require expensive drugs, surgeries, and lifelong medical interventions. While not necessarily limited to these providers or institutions, we will cite examples of clinics from multiple states situated within major academic medical centers, large private hospital systems, and community-based clinics. These institutions and providers participate in federal programs including Medicaid and Medicare that treat children, adolescents, and adults. Doctors and entities that provide these services could profit immensely. And this report highlights evidence that healthcare providers may have secured insurance coverage for these procedures, increasing their bottom lines, through potentially fraudulent means.
In particular, there is reason to believe that some (perhaps many) providers of sex-rejecting procedures systemically diagnose minors with physical conditions they did not have in order to secure insurance coverage for “treatments” (like breast removal or hormonal treatment) that insurers (including Medicaid and Medicare) might not otherwise have covered had they been provided with full and accurate information. See Chapter 2. If true, the entities that took these steps face potentially serious criminal and civil liability.
Second, medical institutions have been captured by ideology. This report contains first-hand accounts from children, and from the parents of children, pressured to undergo sex-rejecting procedures. These stories, and the data showing the explosion in sex-rejecting interventions, suggest that children suffering from gender dysphoria are likely to encounter an ideologue at gender clinics predisposed to embrace the child’s story. This, combined with the financial incentive to provide sex-rejecting procedures, creates a dangerous mix: ideologically driven doctors encourage sex-rejecting procedures, while the financial incentives give hospitals and gender clinics a reason to offer such interventions and to excuse or overlook inaccurate diagnoses.
Third, the federal government actively pushed acceptance of sex-rejecting procedures for minors under the Biden Administration.
Thank God. Thank God. These monsters will be made to pay. Reading it, I thought of the physician I interviewed in 2019, for Live Not By Lies. He worked at a major US hospital, but only talked to me on condition that I identified neither him nor his hospital. He said that hospital management had sent down a decree to medical staff ordering them to approve any transgender body modification requests, even if it goes against their best medical judgment.
This physician had emigrated with his parents as a child from a Communist country. He said this kind of thing was unknown there (though I should point out that his birthplace was not East Germany, where the state ordered doctors to juice female athletes with testosterone to improve their performance).
Yesterday I was talking with a European friend who was passing through town. We spoke at one point about transgender medicine, surrogacy, and ultimately, transhumanism. My friend is secular and liberal, but we both agreed that something is very, very wrong with our society. We have come to see our basic humanity, and our relationships both to our bodies and to our children, in a mechanical, contractual framework.
You want a baby? Order one to be manufactured in the womb of a surrogate for hire. In the near future, you will be able to customize your baby through genetic manipulation. Don’t like your sexed body? Use technology and law to attempt to change it.
I mentioned to my friend this profound 2014 essay by the Catholic philosopher of science Michael Hanby, in which he discusses America’s transition into a post-Christian society, citing the acceptance of same-sex marriage as a sign post on the journey. Excerpts:
According to Hans Jonas, the birth of modern science was bound up with the advent of a radical new view of reality, a “technological ontology” that conflates nature and artifice, knowing and making, truth and utility. This metaphysical revolution has set in motion a perpetual historical revolution, whose interminable machinations continually threaten to overwhelm the revolutionaries themselves. Confronting the obvious question of how a perpetual revolution could be recognized or measured from the “inside,” Jonas offered for consideration the span of an ordinary man’s life:
If a man in the fullness of his days, at the end of his life, can pass on the wisdom of his experience to those who grow up after him; if what he has learned in his youth, added to but not discarded in his maturity, still serves him in his old age and is still worth teaching the then young—then his was not an age of revolution, not counting, of course, abortive revolutions. The world into which his children enter is still his world, not because it is entirely unchanged, but because the changes that did occur were gradual and limited enough for him to absorb them into his initial stock and keep abreast of them. If, however, a man in his advancing years has to turn to his children, or grandchildren, to have them tell him what the present is about; if his own acquired knowledge and understanding no longer avail him; if at the end of his days he finds himself to be obsolete rather than wise—then we may term the rate and scope of change that thus overtook him, “revolutionary.”
By this measure, there can be little doubt that we live in revolutionary times, even if this revolution is the full flower of seeds planted long ago. What availed as the common wisdom of mankind until the day before yesterday—for example, that man, woman, mother, and father name natural realities as well as social roles, that children issue naturally from their union, that the marital union of man and woman is the foundation of human society and provides the optimal home for the flourishing of children—all this is now regarded by many as obsolete and even hopelessly bigoted, as court after court, demonstrating that this revolution has profoundly transformed even the meaning of reason itself, has declared that this bygone wisdom now fails even to pass the minimum legal threshold of rational cogency. This is astonishing by any measure; that it has occurred in half the time span proposed by Jonas makes it more astonishing still.
Such are the logical consequences of the sexual revolution, but to grasp more fully the meaning of its triumph, we must see that the sexual revolution is not merely—or perhaps even primarily—sexual. It has profound implications for the relationship not just between man and woman but between nature and culture, the person and the body, children and parents. It has enormous ramifications for the nature of reason, for the meaning of education, and for the relations between the state, the family, civil society, and the Church. This is because the sexual revolution is one aspect of a deeper revolution in the question of who or what we understand the human person to be (fundamental anthropology), and indeed of what we understand reality to be (ontology).
From here on out, we will be fighting a tectonic battle to defend humanity against the anti-human. I was having this same conversation earlier in the week with the psychiatrist, a Catholic, who said, “It all goes back to the Garden of Eden, doesn’t it? ‘Ye shall be as gods.’”
Please God, let this administration’s attempt to hold these Mengeles accountable succeed. We probably won’t win the war, but at least let’s hope to win this battle.
I strongly recommend watching the Detrans documentary from Prager U. Listen to the testimonies of these young people, talking about how incredibly easy it was to get testosterone prescriptions and major surgeries. This could only have happened within a medical system that had been entirely captured by ideological madness.
