Technology offers significant benefits. It makes tasks easier. However, this devalues those activities. The effort it takes to make something is part of what gives something value. Being too dependent on technology can cause you to lose certain skills. If we use spellcheck we can forget how to spell. If we use it to write we lose that too! Technology improvements rarely improve the human. The human becomes weaker, and the tech stronger.
It is easy to overuse technology. AI for example can be good to create a starting point, but it is best that you know what it does and can do it yourself too. How humans use technology poses more risk than technology itself. Technology is often used to make up for what you lack. It can indicate weakness. But using it in a few areas can save time and be strategic. It can be beneficial and even productive to be lazy.
You may be able to produce higher quality or uniqueness in a task without technology. You have more control over the result, and it has more humanity. A large number of people will prefer to see people play live instruments rather than listening digitally. It connects more. Overdependence on technology can encourage laziness and distance us from meaningful human interaction.
Transferring human knowledge to a machine does not make it human. Programs lack emotions and do not have a will. Computing tools and AI lack consciousness. They compute instructions and should not be perceived as human-like. It exists within its own realm of understanding, and can provide false information. Technology depends on how good the dataset, designer or programmer behind it is. The human behind it.
You may dislike technology, but what you want does not matter. It can be better to use it in a few areas, and try it out. It is good to find practical tools which serve a purpose without interfering with the skills you value.
I like keeping it simple. I can only message and call with my phone. The internet remains useful for finding specific information, but important news can reach you through others anyway. Being unaware can even be a relief. The cost of an AI server is currently too high compared to the results it gives. But huge companies host it, and we can use it free or cheaply. The effort reward balance still has a long way to go.
