When the hardback came out last year, I was gobsmacked to see it #1 on The New York Times nonfiction bestseller list.

That was after seven months of Trump’s despicable regime. Now, after a year and a half of it, I believe the book even more relevant.

I wrote it to share what I’ve learned about stopping bullies. Since then, Trump’s bullying has become far worse, throughout America and the world. And the unholy alliance Trump has forged between great wealth and great power has only intensified.

I’m proud of much that this nation has accomplished over my lifetime. I remain doggedly hopeful about the long-term future. But, undeniably, we now face a brutal set of crises — an economy that’s good only for the super-rich, a democracy imperiled, the rule of law deteriorating, and a planet succumbing to climate change.

I hope you find my book helpful for understanding how we cope with these crises in the years ahead, and why I believe so passionately that we will.

I also hope you draw insight and inspiration from ideas I offer for how to play the long game, toward a better and more decent nation and world.
