I turn my attention to the antique file cabinet on the right and pull out the top drawer. Inside, a diligently alphabetized set of manilla files starting with M.
The first batch labeled MKUltra.
This was a CIA mind control program from the 1950s and 1960s.
Seems to me these reports—typed in caps—were written by Warren Chester. They reference numbers, which I guess connect presumably to the boxes containing raw data—memo, notes, field reports—that corroborate Warren’s findings.
I sit in the wooden chair and swivel it toward the banker lamps, illuminating the pages.
