Chuck & Sharon Lasker · Roaming North America

Today is Wednesday and we arrived in Auburn, Maine, on Sunday evening. In two short days, we’ve had a lot of fun and checked off one item on Sharon’s bucket list.

First, here is what is outside our room at our hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn Auburn:

This is the Great Falls of the Androscoggin River. It’s really high. Notice the trees being covered up by the river. It’s normally not like this.

On Tuesday, on the recommendation of a Facebook friend, we went to our first “roadside attraction.” This is Eartha. It’s a massive globe that rotates like the earth. Here are some photos, including two that are merged by Photoshop, so have little anomalies.

Next, we drove around. What makes this drive interesting is we visited two small islands connected by bridges. It was extremely foggy, with fog coming in from the ocean like in movies. It was our first time experiencing this and was magical, and a little intimidating.

The islands have many rich peoples’ houses, but also preserves. At one, the Katherine Tinker Preserve, we saw a doe! Here are some pics:

Finally, after the islands, we ate lunch. But not just any lunch. Maine lobster in Maine! This was on Sharon’s bucket list, so check that one! And boy oh boy was it good.

Thanks again for following our adventures!
