Over the last two weeks I’ve told two parts of the story that led up to my first novel, Silver Empire’s second novel. I’m spending a lot of time on this one not because it’s mine (although that does give me more to say), and not because it was my own first. The simple fact is, Morgon and I learned more about selling books from this novel than we did from any other single novel that we published over our seven years at Silver Empire.
In part one I outlined everything I was doing wrong with the sales presentation of this book. It was pretty bad. In part two I talked about how we fixed those problems, thanks to a consultation from Nick Cole and Jason Anspach. Today I want to talk about the actual book launch itself.
Nick and Jason had already helped me fix the book. Next, they helped me plan the book launch. It beat the pants off of any book launch we’d done to date - but it didn’t go quite as planned or hoped. Still, I learned a lot from it, and it helped shape up a basic book launch model that we would follow (or try to follow) for every book we launched afterward.
