For the past 50 days, I have created and shared a blackout poem every day on my Substack. The funny story behind the streak is that it started out of an impulse.
Across the months of May-June-July, I was opening Substack to an artist share his 100 day art streak. Earlier, I would scroll past his work but when the algorithm started showing him every day, I began to respect his consistency. I wondered how he even found the time to make art every day and that too for 100 days straight!
With time, I started enjoying seeing his streak and finally when he shared his Day 100 artwork, I could feel a sense of completion and relief too! That is where I picked up the idea of committing to something artsy and something doable for 100 days.
One fine day, while sharing a blackout poem I had made I happened to type: Blackout Poetry
Day 1 of 100
and without even taking permission from myself, I just posted the note!
Rest is history! I am on Day 51 right now and having a blast of a time making and sharing blackout poems every day. It takes a couple of mins on most days and more than a couple of mins on days when I especially have less time.
I have enjoyed the last 50 days thoroughly and even though half of the poems make no sense, I have surprised myself with few genuinely nice pieces.
This is exactly why I believe in: Quantity leads to Quality.
Below are the blackout poems of last 50 days. I will be soon making my 51st poem and just as a reminder to myself to keep going, I thought to share the poems of the last 50 days with you. I hope you have as confusing a time going through each of them as I did while making them!
