The other day, I saw Ananya’s Instagram story where she and her friends were doing a Bridgerton themed party. Without even a second thought, I replied to her on the story saying the following:
For the past year of knowing Ananya, her creative pursuits and how she finds time to pursue so many creative projects have put me in awe. She is a reader - like literally finishes books within days, she is a dancer, a writer, a traveller, an artist, a zine maker, a crazy party thrower and these are only a few of the things that I know about as her pen friend in the last year!
Why seeing her journey in the past year has been so interesting to me is because I have come to fully believe in the quote: Forget the noun, do the verb.
Out of the very few people who actually practice and live this quote, Ananya is one of them and she does all this along with a full time job at Google Maps!! Like HOWWWW??????
I keep picking her brain on various occasions and it’s always fun to talk to someone like her, who approaches creativity like I do, who sees all of this as an end rather than a means to an end, someone who understands my world and why I feel so crazily passionate about it! I wanted to do a substack live with her to talk about all her interests and passions and how she manages all of this with a full time job but for the entire duration, we just spoke about books, reading, authors and the expansive universe that contains all of this.
In hindsight, I think it will take not one but several substack lives to talk about all things Ananya! As someone who loves to read but is still a careful reader, talking to Ananya always pushes me to explore beyond my creative boundaries. Thanks to her, my number of books-to-read keeps increasing (as it should)

PS: Speaking doesn’t come naturally to me (no surprise I picked up writing to express myself) and one reason why I started doing these Substack Lives is to train myself to speak more clearly on camera, be more articulate and ask good questions. During the live, at many points, I found myself stuck, confused and almost blank. It seemed like I was enjoying listening to her so much that I completely forgot about what to ask her. If you catch me fumbling, just know that I am practicing to be better at this!
