Want the Best Prints? Use Higher PPI Files!

Are you getting the most from your printer? Most photographers I meet aren’t because they have been taught outdated information on what they should set the pixels per inch (ppi) of their file to for printing.

The internet is full of videos telling you to use 300ppi files, 240ppi files, and even some say it really doesn’t matter.

The simple fact is that more resolution produces more detailed prints, so you want to give your printer everything it can handle. You are not limited to 300ppi, 240ppi, or 200ppi.

Modern photo-quality inkjet printers can use very high-resolution files. So, the correct answer, in this case, is to send the printer everything you have. If you have 826ppi, send that. 527ppi? That works too. Only have 240ppi? That can work too, but you might want to think about upscaling with Topaz.
