Louis Brandeis once said, "Sunlight is the best disinfectant." As I’ve navigated a rough couple of years, I’ve found that beginning my mornings with gratitude acts like a beam of light, cutting through the fog of toxic thoughts that tend to linger beneath the surface. It doesn’t erase the struggles, but it shifts my perspective—helping me step into each day with a little more clarity, resilience, and hope.
Much like my Sunset Gratitude Photo Journey from last May, I wanted to use this space to share some of the beautiful sunrises I’ve photographed—each one a vessel for reflecting on the aspects of my life that I am most grateful for, the ones that ground me in difficult times. It’s a reminder that even the darkest nights eventually give way to light.

I am grateful for progress.
As I chase difficult dreams,
As I fight to build the life I long for and become the person I strive to be,
I find strength in the the way light slowly overcomes the dark.
In the steady rise of hope.\(Malahide Beach (Malahide, Ireland)\)

I am grateful for clarity.
Even in the morning fog,
When the future feels most uncertain,
There are moments when light breaks through— Illuminating the promise of a new day.
And suddenly, every effort feels worthwhile.\(Theodore Roosevelt Park (Long Island, NY)\)

Komorebi 🇯🇵 Literal Translation: Sunlight filtering through the trees. Philosophical Translation: The interplay of light and shadow within us all. I am grateful for the rays of hope that break through on dark days, For the quiet reassurance that even in shadow, light finds a way. I am grateful for the feeling of hope.

I am grateful for the freedom to forge my own path.
For the chance to follow inspiration wherever it leads.
For the resilience to navigate shifting tides.
And for the opportunity to leave a trail I am proud of in my wake.
