Thank God Spain Won the World Cup: Farewell Messi!

Introduction: I watched the game in a small Spanish town in Andalusia. The whole town in the streets and the moment Spain won was magical, totally magical.

There are many reasons to be very happy that Spain won the world cup. Not only because they were by far the better team and not only because Argentina had won it four years ago, but as we saw in the game and afterwards, Argentina are one of the dirtiest, cheating football teams in the history of the game, their whole football culture infested with a cynical, elitist ideology that only reveals how toxic parts of their whole football culture is. In the game against England, they fouled their way through the 1st half, conceded one goal and then justifiably won the game, mostly though to England’s terrible strategy.

Against Spain, Argentina employed the same tactics, fouling more times in the 1st half than they passed the ball. As the 2nd half unravelled they became more and more desperate and resorted to yet more fouls. Only one player was sent off, again raising serious concerns of the inherent bias in this world cup in favour of Argentina.

As we saw in the England game, toward the end, Argentina put pressure on and one way they do this is to get a foul near the penalty area and then put pressure on from there. It was Messi this time who got the foul and he was brilliant in doing so. He passed the ball and then ran directly into a Spanish player, falling back onto the ground. He made it look like he was check-mated by the Spanish player, but when you look back, you see he deliberately ran right into him. The free kick was given but nothing came from it. Spain then got the only goal of the game in extra time and that was it.

But then it wasn’t as after the game, Argentinian players attacked and punched Spain’s players, in front of the world. This you never see but here we did. Not content with this, when the world cup was being given to Spain’s players, Argentinian players turned their backs, in such a disrespectful way. Again, totally unacceptable. As this BBC article writes, FIFA will now open an investigation into these events, and also into the events of the semi-final when Argentinian players unfurled a banner declaring the Falklands Islands to be theirs. Will FIFA take appropriate action or will they fudge it once again.

And what about poor Messi. You have to feel for the guy. One of the greatest players to play the game. Immensely rich, although, winner of the world cup four years ago and yet is devastated to lose the game, even though he barely touched the ball and his team were beaten by a far superior team. And yet, the poor man is gutted. The pain is immense he says and will take time to heal. WTF. You are part of the worst, ugliest football team seen since Millwall FC in 1970 (Sorry Millwall, the comparison is symbolic), and you cry like a baby. Have some dignity and generosity man.

“I also want to congratulate Spain on winning the championship.”

Thanks for the last bit Lionel! But tell me, how can you say you have immense pride in being Argentine when you shat on the whole world of football and by they way, why did Benjamin Netanyahu want Argentina to win?

It seems God-King player Lionel Messi is rather close to Israel. He employs former Israeli soldiers/IDF/Mossad as part of his personal security detail. He used Mossad agents as security for his wedding and he has been special ambassador for Israeli AI firm ORCAM, which has personnel from the Israeli 8200 spy organization in it. 8200 have been directly involved in the Gaza genocide and were creators of the Pegasus spyware, which has been used to spy on thousands of people throughout the world, especially if they are critical of Israel.

Netanyahu has said that Messi is his favourite player and it seems that Argentina has been the favourite team for many Israelis. Messi met Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders when visiting Israel with his team Barcelona in 2013.

One final observation about Argentina’s team is that there are no black players in their team, which is interesting in contrast to neighbouring Brazil and which has been commented on in previous posts. In fact, there are not many black people in Argentina period. Early European immigrants made Argentina a centre of the slave trade and in the 17th century, nearly half the country was black. In 1810, the country entered into a war of independence against Spain (adding a spice to the game maybe) and the European immigrants trying to leave Spanish rule persuaded the blacks in the country to fight for Argentina’s and their own freedom, which they willingly did. Many died in the six year war and at its conclusion, the promised freedom’s to the black population was not given. Only 40 years after the war were they given full constitutional freedom but the overall economic and social challenges of life were such that many died, and the population of purely black people slowly declined. Some would marry white people and many others moved to neighbouring Brazil. By 1895, there were few black people left and when the government wanted a new wave of immigrants to come into the country, they stipulated that they had to be white. So today, there are only about 150,000 black people in a country of 50 million, not enough to play football for their country. Messi’s own ancestors had Italian and Spanish descent. So that’s the legacy of Argentina and their horrible football team.
