(Briefly free) Apple Music alerting me to new music by artists it thinks I like - The Dream Academy (it is not that The Dream Academy) and The Sun Days (it is not the Sundays.) The Sun Days isn't bad. Pretty standard indiepop. That's not Harriet though. Alas. This namespace problem - music lawyers used to handle it pretty ruthlessly. Their disappearance - A funny knock-on effect of Jobs' 99-cent…

I'm (finally) reading Where Wizards Stay Up Late , and just stumbled across this phrase: "[it] spread like hula hoops." I get the context -- I've seen Hudsucker Proxy . "Y'know.... for kids!" ...but it seems like such a strange simile. No hits on a couple of lesser search engines so I reluctantly plugged it into the goog. Four hits, all from this book. Hm.

The job I had starting in ~2013 - there are a handful of albums I devoured at that desk, hundreds of plays over and over. When I left in Sept of '15 with a sort of non-combat politics-PTSD, I couldn't listen to them anymore. I just revisited one of them tonight. I don't even recognize half the songs. I'm already here, might as well go in and ask.…

Listening to last week's Omnibus , about doorbells - they ultimately talk quite a bit about encyclopedias, and John's parents getting the "childrens' encyclopedia" as a bonus with their purchase, and I suddenly flash: "If I did an Omnibus, it would be about National Geographic's Our Universe ." And then they mention it themselves, two sentences later. Phew, now I don't have to be on. 🤣
