Al Fusan, a pro-Islamic State (IS) media outlet focused on the Philippines, has issued an online call for financial donations to support its operations.
The call was issued in an online post in Tagalog on 20 April, published by Al Fusan's accounts on various decentralised messaging platforms, where the media outlet publishes most of its propaganda.
The post called for followers to "support the jihad" by donating funds in the cryptocurrency Monero, and included the details of Al Fusan's Monero wallet, so that funds could be transferred.
Al Fusan emerged in May 2023, focusing most of its content on jihadist developments on the southern Philippine island of Mindanao. In March 2024, it integrated into Fursan al-Tarjuma, a collective of media translation outlets that produce pro-IS propaganda in multiple languages.
Al Fusan’s call mirrors similar, recent calls for funding in Monero from other pro-IS media groups, including the India-focused Al Jauhar Media.
