⭐⭐⭐⭐ The rewatch towards Doomsday continues! There’s a lot to like about Endgame. Among the modern serious Marvel movies, this is pretty high on the list, a list that exists separately from the silly Marvel films. I’m a sucker for those.

What sets this apart from Avengers: Infinity War? It’s the characters. Sure, they’re the same gang from the first, minus a few for a while, but we really get to know and care about the crew. You have a posh Hulk, a funny Ant-Man, a fat Thor, and a slew of great lines. How could you not enjoy “somebody peed my pants”?

Thankfully, this movie didn’t have nonstop fighting. I get bored watching those. You have deep relational setups throughout. I gave a dang about the characters because of the work in the first half. We have Thor’s struggle and connection with his mother, Hawkeye dealing with his losses, the continued fallout from the world’s culling, poor sweet Natasha, who wasn’t as cold-hearted as we thought, and you even start caring about Nebula.

Dr. Strange and his crew are still OP, but I love him. Benedict Cumberbatch is a great actor, and I enjoy typing his name. It’s fun.

The several deaths brought tears to my eyes, whereas Avengers: Infinity War left me dry-eyed, even though we lost so many.
