July and August are usually pretty quiet around here at R(ev)ise and Shine! We typically take a break from the newsletter and our monthly Zoomies to focus on vacation, personal activities, and family commitments. This summer is no different, with weddings and travel and gardening and all sorts of stuff (fun and otherwise) to keep us busy.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t make a little time for our community here! And let’s face it: We all need community right now. I was just at Boyds Mills this week for Summer Camp, and the recent Atlantic article about the end of reading was the (depressing) talk of mealtimes. It’s such an unnerving and dispiriting era to be a writer. The economy is a wreck, AI is destroying our craft, the political situation is nightmarish, and publishing is (as ever) a dumpster fire. We’ve never needed to stick together to support each other and our work more than we do right now.
With that need in mind, R(ev)ise and Shine! presents: Cocktails & Conversation, a fun, free, and informal online social hour for writers. Join the four of us for a freewheeling evening of laughter and connection as we open the floor to conversation and community building. We’ll talk books, craft, and the writing life—as well as anything else that’s on your mind. Bring your friends and your own cocktails…
