A quote from the article above: “In business schools, the case method has become the signature tool for training students for exactly this kind of knowledge work. Rather than teaching theory alone, instructors place students inside business situations (some real and others fictional, but all realistic). Students have to wrestle with the same uncertainty managers face when making decisions: information is incomplete, stakeholders disagree, and every option carries trade-offs. There is usually no single correct answer.”

Just today I finished the learning courses and final tests (Smart Cases) for the last of 9 Concentrations of my Executive MBA, Supply Chain and Operations. My remaining tasks are now, to write and pass the two final exams, plus delivering the finishing Capstone project. Coming to an end faster than expected.

My learnings so far, a 1st retrospective:

  • You can meet people from all continents, from different working environments and expertise, family situation, life experience, age, motivation, and cultural background

  • The story telling way of teaching the topics is really helpful and useful to keep the knowledge active

  • The mixture of individual and team projects is a good way to simulate real business situations

  • You can build connections for the future and become part of a valuable alumni

  • The Wisdom Paradox is this: when we realize we are less wise than we thought, we become wiser.

  • Great Teams Run on Differences and Common Ground. Most Get It Backward. By Gustavo Razzetti

During my learning day tomorrow I will proceed with my small Strategy Report about Data Center Cooling, a preparation task for the Capstone project. The LinkedIn algorithm is really helping here, every day I get more and more information about the topic. Here one of a really endless number of references:
