As A Former Army National Guardsman, I Call On The National Guard to Stand Down

If you aren’t aware, the National Guard are citizen soldiers who serve their states - training both in their primary war-fighting skills, and also in protection duties which could involve anything from bringing water and food to disaster victims, providing first aid and medical help, to protecting life and property in times of societal collapse. The National Guard can be called up for active duty within the state by the Governor of the state, and for national service by the President of the United States of America.

I served 9 years in the Army National Guard, after finishing a full enlistment in the US Air Force for a total of 13 years of military service. I spent 6 years as a Cavalry Scout, and the remaining time as an Infantryman, and NCO in the Guard. I was called up twice: once by our governor to protect Pope John Paul II and attendees when he gave his famous open air mass in Bexar County, San Antonio Texas, and I was activated to provide training for National Guard and Reserve troops who were deploying as part of Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm for the first Gulf War. I never had to use the deadly and destructive skills I learned against human beings, and I am thankful for that every day of my life. Many were not as fortunate and carry those scars throughout their lives.

Today 2000 National Guard are being called up in California by the Trump regime to suppress protests against the illegal and unethical arrests of immigrants by masked men - who say they are ICE agents, but could be anyone for all we know. They do not show their faces because they know what they are doing is wrong. Here is just one example of what they are doing all over the country:

This is for the National Guard who were called up for this action: This is a moment of decision. You cannot defend the indefensible. These people are not criminals. They are not being afforded due process. They are being held in conditions that are cruel and unusual - including lack of food, sanitation, and environments that are dangerous to life in 100 degree F temperatures. Their families are suffering undue stress without knowledge of their condition or whereabouts. The government hasn’t shown cause, and leans on lies to enact a racist agenda which gains nothing for America - and will hurt all of us and our standing in the world in the long run.

When you enlisted, or became an officer, you raised your hand and swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, both foreign *and* domestic. While you are required to follow legal orders, you are *never* to follow illegal orders. That oath has no expiration date. Today you are faced with a choice to either follow the illegal orders of a racist tyrant who is violating the Constitution, or to stand down and refuse to follow such orders. If you choose to follow the illegal orders of the felon who holds the office of President you will be responsible for not only tearing away mothers from their children, but also enabling the damage this regime is doing to our Constitution; the system you swore to defend.

Stand down in numbers too large to ignore, and send a message to the evil racist regime that you will not abide by their plans to make the United States a white racist country. We the People are watching; don’t let us down.

Thanks for reading! This post is public - and this message needs to be spread far and wide!
