The sun is out, Easter is behind us, and Spring is well and truly here.

After that incredible launch of Artemis 11, on April 1, these four brave astronauts have been orbiting the earth before making a slingshot around the moon. And now, after this sensational and successful 10-day mission into space, they’re coming home!

Here it is – the first draft of my current Loveday Mystery, Dangerous Inheritance.

After four months, and almost 75,000 words, I have finally typed that magical ‘The End’. It’s a huge milestone in the writing process. The Prologue in the final draft may not bear any resemble to what you see here, and the title might change too, but that’s what editing drafts is all about. It is an exciting process and I simply can’t wait to get into it.

This month my author friends and I got together to present something a little different - more than a hundred FREE books with a touch of romance.

Offering a free romance novel is a bit of a challenge for me as my books are now mainly crime fiction. But here we go!

Where Moonbeams Dance - A crumbling life in the city or a wild unknown in the Scottish glens: How far will Hannah go to save her family?

This is the book I’ve chosen to include in this month’s offer. It’s my favourite of the five sweet romances in my collection. - and very dear to my heart.

The Inspiration behind the story…

Lizzie, a most capable and independent Highland woman, was the inspiration for Where Moonbeams Dance.

Her croft in the Scottish Highlands, which she ran single-handed after her husband died, became Hannah’s ‘Lanrig’ in my story – and it really did nestle up on the high pasture, looking out over the silvery waters of the River Oykel.

There was no plumbing or electricity in Lizzie’s croft. Fresh water had to be drawn daily from a well at the top of the yard. Light came from the oil lamps. Peat dug from the hillside fuelled the fire in the black range, which also provided heat for the oven where she baked her bread and scones.

Lizzie kept a cow for milking, and every year the animal would be mated with a bull from a neighbouring croft, giving Lizzie a calf for the winter market.

There were no handy shops up in the depths of Sutherland, so the old lady depended on weekly visits from a grocery van to stock up on essentials. Life was hard, but Lizzie never complained, for it was the only life she’d ever known.

I never met Lizzie, but I knew her well. She was my late husband’s grandmother.

One of my favourite detective TV series, The Chelsea Detective, has been officially confirmed for a fourth season, with production already underway in London.

The new show will involve four feature-length mysteries, each unfolding within the elegant yet secretive world of Chelsea’s high society.

According to the account I’ve read, viewers can expect complex investigations filled with hidden motives, layered suspects, and refined storytelling.

I loved this series and can’t wait to have it on our screens again.

I’m fast becoming a real fan of Mark Dawson’s policeman turned private eye, Atticus Priest. I like his self assurance and sense of justice, not to mention his little lively dog, Bandit. This is Book 5 in the series.
