Can we talk about parents?

This week starts with an update we wish we’d had better news to share...

Poor Alfie went in to get his stitches removed... only for the incision to split open and need staples instead. 🥺 We’re crossing everything that this is just because he’s an old boy who needs a little more time to heal.

From there, things get significantly less serious.

Bradley campaigns for an honorary doctorate (despite not knowing where Yale is), we celebrate one year of Relatable, accidentally wander into one of the most meaningful conversations we’ve ever had about grief and family, and then compare notes on all the wonderfully questionable parenting advice we’ve received from our own parents.

Spoiler: apparently baby monitors, car seats, and sleep schedules are all things our parents think we could probably live without.

We went back to the vet this week to have his staples removed... but Alfie had other plans.

Poor guy was just so stressed that, given his heart condition, the vet decided it wasn’t worth pushing him. They managed to remove one staple, though! And the really encouraging news is that the skin stayed together perfectly.

That’s a very good sign that maybe (fingers crossed) he simply needed more time to heal.

So we’re going back later this week, armed with a little something to help him relax, and we’re hoping this is finally the end of the cone, the staples, and the endless vet visits.

If you’ve got a spare finger, toe, paw... whatever you’ve got... we’d love for you to keep it crossed for our sweet old boy. 🤍
