Have you heard of Matt Emmons?

Poised to capture the gold medal for long-range target shooting in the 2004 Olympics, he nearly hit the bullseye.

Amazing aim . . . at his neighbor’s target.

He didn’t take home the gold.

Do you know what you’re aiming for, where you’re headed in your professional and personal life?

We all have limited time. We have bills to pay and plenty of family responsibilities. The way to shortcut your path to success is by having a specific destination and identifying the steps you’ll take to get there.

To reach any destination, you must precisely know where you’re going. You may be able to wing it in an unknown city if you’re on vacation, but if you want a 10x business, you need to know exactly what you want.

Most people who want to succeed in life don’t have that level of precision.

We have to know what we truly want - not just in business, but in all aspects of our life. We’re multidimensional human beings, so we ought to consider all those different dimensions: not just the big arenas of professional and personal, but also the smaller aspects within those areas.

The professional arena includes our individual work success, but also how we can help our colleagues, support our superiors, and mentor those we manage. The personal arena affects our spiritual life, our physical life, and the relationships with family, friends, and our wider community.

It’s the season again for Q4 planning, the last push to accomplish important goals before we say goodbye to yet another year.

As a Concentration Coach, I help high achievers strengthen their ability to concentrate and craft action plans on what they want to be concentrating on. If you can concentrate well but are concentrating on the wrong things, you won’t reach your desired outcome. And if you know what you want to concentrate on but can’t work in a focused way for long periods of time, reaching your goal will take exponentially longer.
