I am feeling mixed emotions about the turn of the calendar page. A quarter of the year has gone by with me still pretty much mired in creative inertia, stuck in bad habits of overeating and overscrolling. Limping along on my ambitious 50 state gouache postcard challenge, anxious about completing a watercolor landscape that is actually coming along well. In short, I have been quite a mess.

However, I am taking some preliminary steps to get out of the mired down life.

  • Paring down my morning scrolling time. At my desk with my third cup of coffee (don’t worry it’s half-caf) to do morning pages. I can’t seem to make three pages yet, but I write a little bit more every day.

  • Cleaned up my desk and art supplies, as well as my sewing room so that there is less clutter to sap my energy.

  • The recent closure of my local gym had thrown off my exercise schedule, and the remaining gyms are too crowded now, so I am moving my strength training back to the basement, where we all exercised happily during covid lockdowns. It’s a timesaver since I don’t have to take the 20 minute drive to and from the gym. the gym that closed is five minutes away.

It’s all good. I am breathing freer, sleeping better, and even getting small bursts of decluttering and cleaning done elsewhere in the house.

So, here are my three latest gouache postcards.
