How could I make my collaborative writing project idea come into being?

I feel as though this is more of a logistical question than a writing question, but I'm not sure where else to ask about something like this. If this is an inappropriate forum for this question, if I could be directed to somewhere more appropriate to ask this, that would be great :)

Inspired by the early days of Marvel or DC comics, I would like to bring together small artists and writers to share one universe, culminating in big crossover events every so often. I want people to contribute in a way that's most comfortable for them, whether that means a webcomic, animations, web novels, or even just character sheets. I personally know a dozen or so people who are on board with this idea, and I'd like to make it happen.

If we ignore some problems like "what happens if two people make conflicting ideas about the universe itself", the true problem comes down to organization, I believe.

Part of the fun of this idea would be that if a reader enjoyed one person's contribution to the universe, they'd be able to easily find more in a convenient way. This is where the trouble begins, because as cool as that would be, how does one do that?

I do not trust social media sites for many obvious reasons. If the artists and writers were to make their posts independently on their own socials, that would not be convenient for readers to find more, and I don't think any amount of hashtags or instagram collab-posts will solve this. If everyone shared an account, that's messy, and basically impossible for readers to even read continuations of ONE series, let alone several. Not to mention that almost all social medias are famous for not being entirely transparent about their rules, resulting in terminations and post removals with little prior warning.

I also do not trust webcomic sites, as every time I look at the astronomical amount of users, I remember the tale of Smackjeeves, and how thousands of people's work went up in the air one day without warning.

The obvious answer would then be to make your own website (which I would be more than happy to pay for), but that then raises a new concern: I do not know web development. I know a little HTML and CSS, but that can only take me so far. How do members of the team upload their media to the website? Do I just trust them all with the master-password for editing the site? If not, is it now my job to upload everyone's work myself? Something reminiscent of a per-page account & password system would (in theory) solve this, but I have no idea how on earth to make such a thing. That's officially beyond me. I could pay someone to help, but now, a project meant to be fun-first is ALREADY losing money before it even began.

I am willing to put in an arm and a leg for this project, but I only have 2 arms and 2 legs, ya know?

I've been given suggestions such as "why not just make a wiki in the meantime?" I think this severely limits the creativity of the people on the project. Some people are more visual artists, rather than writers, so just typing out a bunch of facts about a character is not as enticing.

This has been bothering me for almost a year. This organizational issue feels like the only hurdle, but it is a really big one. How is a reader supposed to be invested in this universe if they're having trouble doing something as simple as finding the next episode of something they were already reading, buried amongst everyone else's posts? A nice website would probably fix all this, but that's a big ask. What on earth do I do?

TL;DR, I want to make a collaborative writing project where everyone makes their own series that all share a universe. Where does everyone post their stuff in an organized manner? I do not trust social media or webcomics sites.
