In my novel, two characters are coping with the loss of their relatives (one because her mom died and the other because her dad was kicked out of the house). I feel they share similar notes, albeit with different feelings and journeys (the first is discovering a version of her mom she never knew and the other is searching for her dad while being mad with her mother for kicking him out). Either way, I can't help but wonder if they share more similarities than differences, which would mean I would have to cut one of them. Should I cut one?
