My setting is a chronological space opera set in the far future. FTL travel/communication, megastructures, and vast interstellar civilizations are commonplace. Despite the advanced tech I want my setting to also feel ancient. While I know settings like Star Wars do achieve something similar I'm wanting a different vibe. Star Wars feels old, gritty, and lived in but I want something that feels more like classical antiquity. Think ancient Rome, Greece, China, ect. However, I don't want this to be blatantly obvious either.
How would I subtly achieve this given that this is purely a aesthetic/vibe that stands in stark contrast to the technology level? My worldbuilding will also include artwork so this has to be achievable across both writing and visual media.
For some some added context in my setting, the age of rapid technological progress is long over. Technology is not stagnant, instead it's progress is gradual with decades or centuries between major innovations. Not everyone has the same relationship with technology, some prefer simpler lifestyles with older tech while others are constantly perusing the cutting edge. There are many unique and diverse cultures so I can't just simply give everyone Greek and Roman names to make the setting feel ancient. The setting leans towards hard Sci-Fi but also includes fantastical elements.
