Recalling Fire · Recalling Fire

This July, from 9th-12th, alongside our allies at Change In Nature, and one of our dear community elders, we’re going for a walk.

Not as tourists. Not as consumers. As pilgrims.

And we’re going to follow the mythic trackways of Tristan and Isolde as we go.

Our pilgrimage takes us across Cornwall. North to south. Padstow to Helman Tor. Sleeping in sanctuaries, surrounded by other men going through the same ‘territory’. Together, we’ll explore spectacular Cornish coastlines, hidden valleys and ancient sites - while also exploring the terrain within.

And we’re offering TWO FREE PLACES for young men (18-25) on our pilgrimage for men in July.

Do you know any young men who would benefit from extended time, walking through Cornwall, in the company of experienced older men?

We're fizzing with the possibility of this event, for ourselves, for the older men joining us, and for the young men whose direction of travel could be changed forever.

Forward this on to friends, parents, anyone who has young men in their lives.

How crucial is the moment of departure of our young men? Are we really meeting the magnitude of that moment?

What were you offered the day you left home?

Was there a send off? Did you slip away? Was it joyful or a rupture?

Were you offered "You can be anything!" or "Be sensible about your future", or something else?

Did you get a conversation with the ‘careers advisor’?

What do these memories raise in you?

Why Pilgrimage?

Our pilgrimage for men in July is addressing some of the feelings and ideas around the moment of 'becoming'. We're holding our own against the idea of 'rushing out'. Instead, this is pilgrimage.

With myself, Andy Raingold, the presence of community elder Thurstan Crockett and our support team, we're going to explore as we, literally, Walk The Way.

Who are we?
What are we busy becoming?
What is the centre of our lives?

For some men, it’s to be a better brother, father, husband, friend. For others it’s to let go of people-pleasing and stand for something.

For those aged 18, or thereabouts, this is a chance to expand perspective and draw on the lived experience of older men. (If only this were available when we were all younger...).

Bursary for young men

We know how far a fully-funded place could take some young men. We'd love to hear directly from them. To apply, be in touch by Friday 26th June, including a 1-minute video explaining why you want to join us.

Apply here:

To apply for a paid-for place, follow the below link:

- Men older than 25 who'd like a lower rate, choose 'supported'.
- Men with financial abundance, consider that the 'supporter' places supports us to fund even more bursaries in the future:

See you down the way, pilgrim.
