Why would any of us 'weaponise' spiritual understanding against ourselves?

Hey rebel,

This week’s podcast dives into an important distinction.

Safety vs security…

Because it’s so easy to turn a could into a should.

Because we have come to see that all the peace, love, contentment and well-being we’ve ever experienced, or ever will, isn’t something we lack or need to acquire.

It resides within us…

In our hearts,

In our being,

‘Inside’ consciousness itself.

Which means that experience works from the inside out.

Always.

Which also means that, but for the stories and conditioning we lose ourselves in, we could experience peace and contentment in any circumstance.

Which is a powerful thing to recognise.

And then…

We innocently fall for a trap.

We take the possibility that we could touch the truth of who we are in any moment, and turn it into the idea that we should always feel peace, love, or contentment.

And we get the idea that some feelings are ‘wrong’ or ‘less evolved’ than others.

It’s innocent.

And we often don’t even notice the shift.

But once we believe we should always feel happy, we start fighting our experience when we don’t.

The danger of trying to ‘feel good’ all the time is that we cut ourselves off from our own humanity.

So let's be careful not to weaponise the gift of waking up against ourselves.

Let's honour the power of coming to see how life works and who we truly are.

And maybe, just maybe, being content isn’t about feeling a certain way.

Maybe it’s about understanding the inherent safety of our felt human experience.

Warts and all.

Big love,

Sam

PS I’m actively reflecting and pondering an exciting new group adventure for Autumn 2026. It’s going to be called ‘Wisdom Doesn’t Follow Rules’.

If you would like to be kept in the loop, just pop your name on this list.
