Hey rebel,

This week’s podcast is a punchy three minutes.

Let me know what you think…

Hey rebel,

Life sure has its moments, doesn’t it?

And who knows why some of us have more ‘moments’ than others.

Life is a mystery.

But most of us aren’t exhausted because life can be hard.

We’re exhausted because we got the idea that it’s our job to manually run reality.

Let me say that again…

But most of us aren’t exhausted because life can be hard.

We’re exhausted because we got the idea that it’s our job to manually run reality.

So we use the power of thought to try to lock in the reality we want.

To make things certain.

Which requires a lot of thinking and is quite the full-time job.

(And impossible, no matter how hard we try).

Why?

Life is inherently uncertain.

There’s no getting around it.

And it’s true for everyone, no matter what.

But if we can see this truth without running from it.

If we can see the beauty in impermanence.

If we become sick of trying to control the world.

And give up trying.

A new world opens up.

Life loosens up.

We loosen up.

It’s not even about ‘letting go’.

Or just ‘letting it be, maaaaan’.

It’s about not using the power of thought to create a little you that is clinging on for dear life.

Not adding that extra layer of self for a minute, and relaxing back into the openness of direct experience.

The freedom of BEing.

In these moments, we can recognise that there is no you and experience.

There is only experience.

unfolding, radiating, presencing.

And you are that.

What would you be ‘letting go’ of anyway?

The idea that you need to control everything.

The idea that you even can.

Personally, I gave that up a while ago.

As I saw the suffering I was innocently creating for myself, it just made less and less sense.

I thoroughly recommend it.

It’s a radical way to live.

A much more peaceful way to live.

And in the moments when I’m clinging to the controls.

And I’m arguing with what is.

Life soon tells me.

Because things get tough and sticky.

Life sure has its moments.

But once we realise it’s not our job to run reality.

Those moments come and go with more ease.

Here’s to more of that.

With love,

Sam
