We’ve been busy at Realm Books LLC! Our shared storefront All We Remember is now up and running at 2949 W Armitage (open Fridays & Saturdays from 1-6pm — peep the recent Block Club feature). While this shop offers a relatively small selection of books, we’re also doing a monthly popup in the space with our full inventory of new & favorite titles. A huge thanks goes to everyone who came out last weekend to make it a success. We’ll be back up at the space next weekend, August 15-16 for another two days of photobook fun. In addition, we’ll be up tomorrow (Saturday, August 8th) from 10am-2pm at the Kimball Arts Center (1757 N Kimball) and then later in the month, on Saturday, August 22nd at Perpetual Books.
While commerce is not necessary to art, it is necessary to make art at scale. We continue to think the photobook is the ultimate form of art at scale. It’s accessible, dynamic, and filled with both entertainment & endless inspiration.
While we’d love to stock every photobook release in the shop, we can realistically only stock as much as we sell. To help us gauge interest and demand, Realm is now all-in on photobook PRE-ORDERS! Hop on over to our shop and check out the amazing list of upcoming books. (some titles include new projects from Trent Parke, Jerry Hsu, Irina Rozovsky, Ken Graves, and Henry Wessel) The system is simple and easy to use, and you won’t be charged until the title is released by the publisher. We hope this offering will both help us sell more books to fellow photobook nerds like ourselves and allow us to bring in even more titles by better estimating demand. Beyond this month’s popups and the new AWR shop, we’ve also got a rotating selections of books available for purchase seven days a week with our friends in Wicker Park, Bellows Film Lab (1359 N Milwaukee). A few current titles available to browse or purchase at Bellows include Easy Days by Sage Sohier and Mixedness is my Mythology by Farren van Wyk.

It took us far too long to source this one, but now that we finally have it in stock, I’m obsessed! Such an incredible project and nearly sold out worldwide, so don’t sleep on this one if you haven’t yet checked it out. -CH
Zed Nelson’s The Anthropocene Illusion (Guest Editions) is one of those projects that comes along and transcends the genre of mere photobook to become something far more significant. In our modern world of *gestures broadly*, this book does more to communicate where we’re at as a species than perhaps any work of art I’ve yet encountered. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, yet photography continues to be such an underrated form of art. This title shows what’s possible when you harness those unsaid words within its pages, filling it with such rich and complex meaning and narrative, while simultaneously being beautiful to look at. Because of this I can’t help but consider it my favorite of the year for what it’s able to communicate. Of course, not everyone will see it this way. That, too, explains how we’ve ended up where we are. *gestures broadly* -CH
SHOP THE ANTHROPOCENE ILLUSION
This book just oozes summer nostalgia from every page. Summertime is a series of portraits of young children and teenagers caught in the midst of activity in distinctly American settings. Made between 1984 and 1991, when kids were able to roam their neighborhoods with less supervision than today, riding bikes without wearing helmets, and hanging out without constant digital interruptions, these black and white photographs capture the light and feel of an endless summer.
Absurd, whimsical, fun. Discover something new in every viewing. Jeff’s creative genius is on full display is this colorful title from void; one of our favorite photobook publishers taking on the work of one of our favorite photographers. The result is both beautiful and special. -CH

We’re doing our best to gather a broad mix of titles but the reality is there’s so much more we’d love to include but ultimately can’t just yet as we are still a tiny, but growing, entity.
