A studio!? Who is she??
Beginning of April, I joined a brand new community art and gallery space—Third Story Art. This space feels like a dream come true. My little space has windows (two of them)! It’s a twenty-minute walk from my house! It’s a block away from the library! I feel truly so fortunate.
It’s been such a delight that a paint session no longer requires me to take over our kitchen table. Excited to see how this space grows with time!
I’m still settling in—figuring out what arrangement works and what doesn’t. Over time, I plan to bring in a few plants and my picture book collection.
If you’d like to see the studio space IN PERSON, the gallery is hosting it’s GRAND OPENING Friday, May 3 from 5-8pm. You will also get to peek at all the artists studios in the space!
You can also swing by during Lancaster Art Walk—Saturday, May 4 from 10am-5pm & Sunday, May 5 from 11am-4pm.

First up, I’m excited to announce this piece was selected as a winner of the Eastern SCBWI banner challenge! For this piece, I wanted to stretch myself by drawing lots of children and character interactions.
The tree was painting in watercolor, and all of the characters were rendered in Procreate. I’ve been leaning toward this hybrid style of illustration lately. It’s sped up my process and helps me quickly revise projects.
Drawing chubby, flying babies certainly wasn’t on my 2024 bingo card, but here we are. 😂
A delightful client commissioned me for a stationary project inspired by renaissance cherubs. This particular set wasn’t chosen for the final commission, but they make me laugh!! I think I’ll make some cheeky Valentine’s cards based off of these sketches next year!
I learned a LOT from sketching cherubs, and I’m reusing a lot of sketches from the project for the piece below! I found a sketch of a blackberry vine by Leonardo da Vinci which inspired the concept. Extra excited about this one!
Before I tackle that massive sketch, I’ve been painting some studies in my sketchbook. I think I’m starting to nail down the colors for the leaves and berries. Now I just need to test drawing a few fairies before I get started!

The price tag definitely gave me pause, but I’m so glad I picked up this set. They are SUCH a level up. You can use them like pastels, dip them in water, or shave off bits of the color for a variety of textures. These are going to be a consistent part of my process going forward.
Book: Francois Halard 2: A Visual Diary
I stumbled upon this book in the oversized section of my library. You’ve never seen such a stunning book of interiors. I’m smitten with the blend of old world style and modern sensibility. If your library doesn’t have it, you can browse the entire book on the photographer’s website!
