A year and a half ago, I started making videos. Lighting tutorials was the first thing I tried. Here’s the very first one. Feels like going back in time.
Later that year I started doing these ‘no gatekeeping’ carousels for folks who prefer to swipe at their own pace. Nothing fancy, just breaking down camera settings, gear, etc. Here’s the first one I ever tried:
Fast forward to now, the approach hasn’t changed: Here’s how I did X and how you could too.
I’m feeling good. I want to give more. 2026 is officially year ten of learning how to be a photographer. I still feel like a young pup, got tons to learn. I get super psyched thinking about what this could look like in another ten years. And just like year one, I deeply love the craft, I get immense fulfillment out of trying to get better, and it is super fun & rewarding to try to help others a little bit in their own journeys. Looking forward to trying to be useful to a few of you.
We’ll see how this livestream goes. My hope is that people like it and I can justify doing it regularly, but I’m really not sure what kind of response it’s gonna get. So let’s run one and see what folks think.
