What makes a good witchy game for me?

  • Dark, occult, witchy, creepycute, culty, eerie, magical atmosphere.

  • Focus on potions, alchemy, thaumaturgy or other occult activities.

My favourite games in the genre, the top of the crop. As perfect as they can get, a true master class. The games I keep returning to.

  • Cult of the Lamb

    The epitome of creepycute!
Cult-building action roguelike with a little bit of everything: dungeons, colony building, decoration, collectibles and fun mini-games!

  • Moonlight Peaks
For when you crave a farming sim after dark!

Cosy vampire life sim where you trade the castle for a farm: grow weird crops, cast spells, adopt adorable animals, befriend supernatural villagers, and decorate to your heart’s content.

  • Potion Craft: Alchemist Simulator

The potion game that sets the bar at its highest!
Gorgeous graphics, innovative gameplay and good storylines.

  • The Magical Mixture Mill

The most satisfying *cling* sounds in the world!
Cute graphics, adorable bottles floating around, with exploration and collecting.

Games that are great, with a lot of the things I love, that I got hooked on for a good while before putting them down.

  • Cozy Grove

Help villagers and decorate your island, one day at a time!
Discover the stories of the bears living on this haunted island and help them solve their issues, while collecting fish and bugs, craft objects, decorate your island and literally bring colour back to the world

    .

  • Don’t Starve Together

My first ever creepycute game that gave me tons of great memories!
A gloomy, gothic survival game where everything wants to eat you, haunt you, or drive you insane, but somehow it still manages to be charming.

  • Potionomics

Good game to introduce you to the deckbuilding genre!
Well-paced and rewarding semi-deckbuilder / time management hybrid.

  • Wytchwood

Charming yet quirky storylines set in a vast world to explore!
Crafting and exploring in a gorgeous, atmospheric world full of magic and mystery, with dark and interesting stories to uncover as you go.

These are the “needs some more time in the oven” games. They have good elements that make me not dismiss them entirely, but they also lack in too many areas to really hook me.

  • Potion Permit

Adorable JRPG with refreshing interactions, that turned into a DLC mill.
Enjoyed the time I spent playing it, but can’t endorse it on account of it having become a DLC mill money grab.

I just really did not enjoy these games. They were either frustrating, unpolished, un-userfriendly, or just plain boring.

  • Alchemist Simulator

Repetitive and stressful mess that shouldn’t be a full release.
Interesting look-and-feel, but disappointing and stressful gameplay.

A list of witchy games I want to review but haven’t yet been played, acquired or released yet. Yes, there are a LOT of them. I know.
